Multiple Middlewares or.....a Super Middleware

As I tried to envision Potential System Integration challenges in the future....I was thinking about a world in which companies system profile would be a mixture of on-site applications and cloud based applications (and that too applications from multiple clouds). The first question that occured was would there be middleware for the integration between an on-site application and cloud computing and a second middleware for integration between the clouds? So are we going to see multiple middlewares within the same organization?

In my naivety I thought I had stumbled upon an original thought......:-) But as I went 'googling'...I found that this question has already been answered . I found an excellent article by David Linthicum that addresses this question and more. His article indicates there are products already in the market that achieve cloud-enterprise integration but also cloud-cloud integration (aha..a Super Middleware!!!). One of the products that he has mentioned is Informatica on Demand.

As soon as I find one, I will post an example that showcases cloud-cloud and cloud-enterprise integration by the same product. Keep checking this blog.....!!!

  1. Great idea Vivek,

well are we talking about middlewares between the clouds ... probably some company will start offering a custom cloud that provides these middlewares ... well sounds like a joke now but people might have already started working on it....

  2. Nice thought Vivek..Here is a case on cloud middleware where two largest business application computing clouds were integrated:

  3. Cloud to cloud ,, nice and sleek. I just wondering how much integration intelligence would this middle ware have or as Avinash said a cloud as middle ware cloud. Interesting . Imagine all your integration solutions are answered by a company giving this service. Will this cloud , lets call him "guru that knows all",have many clouds in itself , will it be a spread out integration cloud or will it be a enormous monopolized ,standardized cloud . Who knows , but i think its not too far when this will happen

  4. I have a thought of integrating distributed applications to the cloud.. But, i really dont know.. Do we require a middleware for integrating a distributed application on to the cloud??.... as the distributed application is already a part of cloud..

  5. What are you looking to connect to? Informatica Cloud Services and the new Informatica Cloud Platform can definitely help.
